Products & Customization

Flatbed vs lowbed trailer: which one for African roads?

Flatbed trailers are ideal for standard cargo — containers, steel pipes, timber — on paved highways, supporting 30-80 tons. Lowbed trailers are designed for heavy machinery such as excavators and bulldozers, featuring a low deck height (0.5-1.2m) for loading stability and height-clearance compliance. For African conditions, we reinforce both types with double-layer Q345B steel frames and heavy-duty FUWA/BPW axles rated for rough terrain. If you mainly transport construction equipment, choose a lowbed. If you haul mixed freight including containers, choose a flatbed. Not sure? Contact us with your typical cargo type and route conditions — we'll recommend the best fit at no cost.

Sinotruk vs Shacman: which tractor head for mining?

Sinotruk HOWO offers up to 540HP with better fuel efficiency, making it ideal for long-distance highway hauling. Shacman (X3000/F3000) uses MAN-technology axles with reinforced frames designed for mining sites and unpaved roads. For African mining operations, we recommend Shacman F3000 6x4 (375-430HP) or X3000 (400-550HP) for their durability on rough terrain. For highway logistics, HOWO NX offers lower fuel costs and easier maintenance. We supply both brands at factory-direct prices. Contact us with your route details and payload requirements — we'll send a side-by-side spec comparison.

3-axle vs 4-axle semi trailers: what's the difference?

3-axle trailers support 30-60 tons — suitable for general freight, containers, and light to medium machinery. 4-axle trailers handle 60-80+ tons for heavy equipment such as large excavators and mining dump bodies. A 4-axle configuration costs $3,000-6,000 more upfront and has higher tire wear. Most African customers use 3-axle for highway transport and 4-axle for dedicated mining and construction work. We provide free consultation on axle configuration based on your cargo weight, road conditions, and local regulations.

Can you customize trailers for country-specific road regulations?

Yes, every trailer can be fully customized. Options include: LHD or RHD configuration, 2-5 axle setups, FUWA, BPW, or MAN axle brands, mechanical or air ride suspension, WABCO drum or disc brakes, 30-80 ton capacity range, kingpin size (2-inch or 3.5-inch), twist lock positioning for container chassis, gooseneck height adjustment for lowbeds, and tank compartment layouts for fuel tankers. Lighting, reflective markings, and safety equipment are adjusted to meet your country's local standards. Custom engineering drawings are delivered within 2-3 working days at no extra charge.

Do you offer left-hand drive and right-hand drive options?

Yes, both LHD and RHD are available across all truck and tractor head models at no extra cost. RHD is typically ordered for East and Southern Africa (Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Botswana). LHD is standard for West Africa, the Middle East, and South America. Production time is identical for both configurations — no delays for RHD orders.

Ordering & Payment

What is the minimum order quantity?

Minimum order is 1 unit — we welcome single-unit trial orders as well as bulk fleet purchases. Many first-time buyers start with 1-2 units to evaluate quality before scaling up. Our repeat customer rate exceeds 70%, with numerous clients growing from an initial single-unit order to fleets of 50+ units. Bulk orders of 10+ units receive 3-8% volume discounts. All orders include OEM/ODM customization, LHD/RHD options, and factory-direct pricing. Contact us for a detailed quotation tailored to your requirements.

What payment methods and terms do you accept?

We accept T/T bank transfer (30% deposit to start production, 70% balance before shipment) and L/C (Letter of Credit at sight). Alibaba Trade Assurance is available for first-time buyers who prefer a platform-secured transaction. For bulk orders of 10+ units, we can arrange flexible 20/80 payment schedules. Repeat customers may qualify for net-30 terms after a credit review. All payments are processed in USD. A commercial invoice and proforma invoice are provided for every order.

What is the delivery time from China to African ports?

Production takes 15-35 days depending on order size and customization requirements. Sea freight from Qingdao Port to major African destinations: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania — 25-30 days. Mombasa, Kenya — 25-30 days. Lagos/Apapa, Nigeria — 30-35 days. Durban, South Africa — 25-28 days. Tema, Ghana — 30-35 days. Dakar, Senegal — 35-40 days. Total door-to-port timeline: approximately 40-65 days. We work with Maersk, MSC, CMA CGM, and COSCO. Both FOB and CIF terms are available. Expedited production can be arranged for urgent orders — contact us to check current availability.

Quality & After-Sales

What certifications do your trucks and trailers come with?

Every unit ships with CE, BV, and ISO 9001 certifications as standard, plus certificate of origin, packing list, commercial invoice, and bill of lading. For specific markets, we provide additional documentation: SONCAP certification for Nigeria, PVOC for Kenya, and SGS inspection reports upon request. Our documentation team handles all customs clearance paperwork for your destination country — you receive a complete, ready-to-clear document package with every shipment.

How do you handle after-sales service in Africa?

Standard wear parts (brake pads, filters, seals, gaskets) ship free with every initial order. Orders of 5+ units include a recommended spare parts list covering 6-12 months of normal operation. We provide 24/7 remote support via WhatsApp (+86-15053163972), email (vehicles@scdtrailer.com), and video call for diagnostics. Maintenance and operation manuals are provided in English and French. For major repairs, our technicians can travel to your site. We maintain partnerships with local workshops in Tanzania, Kenya, and Nigeria for on-ground support and parts availability.

How to maintain a fuel tanker trailer in African conditions?

Seven essential maintenance steps for fuel tanker operations on African roads: (1) Inspect tank welds and compartments monthly for leaks or corrosion — unpaved roads accelerate metal fatigue. (2) Test emergency shut-off valves before every trip. (3) Check WABCO brake systems every 5,000 km — dust and high temperatures increase brake wear. (4) Replace suspension bushings annually or every 50,000 km on rough roads. (5) Grease kingpin, landing gear, and door hinges every two weeks. (6) Flush the tank interior annually, especially when switching between fuel types. (7) Keep a detailed maintenance log — we provide a free template. Our carbon steel tankers feature anti-corrosion coatings rated for 8-10 years with proper care.

Why choose Chengda over other Chinese truck and trailer suppliers?

(4) 70%+ repeat customer rate — ask us for client references in your country. (5) Full certification and documentation support at no extra cost.
